About

Our Purpose

We are a student-led organization committed to protecting and strengthening Texas public education. Founded by students and educators, for students and educators, our mission is to defend academic freedom, secure increased state funding, and oppose harmful policies like school vouchers and curriculum censorship. We empower students and educators to speak out, take action, and shape the future of education in Texas.

Our goals are to protect and expand access to quality public education by increasing state funding, defending academic integrity, and ensuring that all students—regardless of background—have the resources they need to succeed. We aim to prevent harmful policies like school vouchers and curriculum censorship from weakening our schools. Through outreach, advocacy, and student-driven action, we seek to give students and educators a voice in the cacophony of the state legislature.

Why Now?

We chose to launch advocatedu now because Texas public education is at a critical crossroads. The rise of school voucher programs (HB3), increased efforts to insert religious teachings into classrooms (SB10), and chronic underfunding of public schools threaten to dismantle the foundation of our once-mighty public education system. Districts across Texas are already facing budget deficits, leading to cuts in essential programs like IB, GT, fine arts, career/technical education courses, and other co-curriculars. If these trends continue, students and educators will face fewer opportunities, larger class sizes, and weakened academic standards.

At the same time, student voices have become more powerful than ever. The 89th legislative session presents a unique opportunity to push back against harmful legislation and advocate for real change. By organizing now, we can unite students and educators to defend our schools, preserve academic integrity, and fight for a fully funded, inclusive education system.
